Vision Statement
Brunswick Bands Inc. exists in order to support and promote the participation in and enjoyment of quality instrumental music in Brunswick County.
Mission Statement
In order to realize the stated vision of Brunswick Bands Inc. more fully and consistently, we strive to:
* Provide quality instrumental music offerings to the public free of charge
*Support and cultivate instrumental musical performance opportunities for a varied cross section of our population
*Provide educational support by sustaining financial aid assistance in the form of annual scholarship(s) to Brunswick County high school seniors
*Promote and encourage student participation in both school and community instrumental programs
*Enhance the experience of school instrumental music programs and the students of those programs through various material lending activities
*Encourage civic initiatives by providing needed musical support when requested to do so
The Music Student Assistant Program is sponsored and funded by the Bands. This program loans musical instruments to students throughout the county. These instruments have been donated to the band, and volunteers evaluate their status. If appropriate, the instruments are repaired at band expense. Please see our MSAP page for detailed information.
Several band members assist with the music programs at public middle and high schools in the county. This helps the students realize that music can be a life-long activity and encourages the students to participate with the bands even while they are students.
The band has created a $1,000 annual scholarship in memory of Frank Mahoney, a longtime member, Past President and one of the original founders of the Brunswick Big Band. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating Brunswick County wind or percussion musician who has been accepted to an accredited college, university or technical school and who has participated in their high school band or external community band program for a minimum of three years.
